BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota State Patrol says a driver who ran out of gas triggered a seven-vehicle interstate pileup which killed a cab driver.

The patrol says a tanker truck and six other vehicles crashed Monday during the morning commute on Interstate 494 in the Twin Cities metro.

Authorities say a minivan that ran out of gas came to a stop in the right lane of the interstate. That caused three other vehicles in the right lane to crash. A taxicab swerved into the middle lane, sideswiped a vehicle and then was struck by the truck.

State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske says there's no reason to run out of fuel because there's a gas station every block or two in Bloomington.
