GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - Arizona Sen. John McCain toured the University of North Dakota's unmanned aircraft programs on Thursday.
The former Republican presidential candidate toured the programs at the invitation of North Dakota's congressional delegation. McCain is ranking member on the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee.
UND and the Grand Forks Air Force Base are working with the state's congressional delegation to make Grand Forks one of six federal pilot test sites to be established across the country for unmanned aircraft.
In a news release, McCain said the UND facility has the potential to fulfill the role of training and educating future unmanned aircraft operators.
