BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The Bismarck Police Department will soon have a new chief, and with that internal ascension comes the promotions of eight people within the department.
Dan Donlin got the top post after another candidate turned down an offer in the nationwide search.
Because Donlin was a deputy chief within the department, a series of people beneath him will be promoted.
Donlin will replace Interim Chief Fred Wooten on January 19th.
Donlin tells the newspaper that he has the support of people in the department, as well as other law-enforcement agencies in the area.
He says city officials are happy to show him the ropes in his new job.
Donlin says, ``Just because I've been here 25 years doesn't mean I know everything.''
