Update: Train-Pedestrian Victim Identified

The state patrol has released the name of the man killed when he was hit by a train in Casselton Saturday afternoon.

The state patrol has released the name of the man killed when he was hit by a train in Casselton Saturday afternoon. He is identified as 69-year-old Eugene Kaatz.

The patrol says Kaatz was walking across the tracks in Casselton, at a crossing, when the accident happened.

One train had just cleared the crossing when Kaatz was hit by another, going in the opposite direction.

The patrol says the the cross-arms were down and the warning bell was sounding.

Kaatz died at the scene.
