West Fargo Police Chief Arland Rasmussen says he hopes congress renews the "Violence Against Women's Act."
It won approval in the Senate, but has yet to be considered in the House. Rasmussen spoke at a forum on the issue in Fargo sponsored by Sen. Heidi Heitkamp.
Sen. Heitkamp says further complicating things is the threat of automatic budget cuts under sequestration.
She says some support programs for women would be affected.
