The FM Diversion Board of Authority meets in special session this morning to formally ask the Corps of Engineers to move ahead with a study on a plan to build a ring levee around rural communities south of Fargo.
Mayor Dennis Walaker believes the plan, first shown to the Corps last month, would protect Oxbow, Hickson and Bakke subdivision from being flooded out by the red river diversion project:
Walaker, in a recent interview with KFGO News says the cost of the proposal is not yet available but would be less than home buyouts in the tree communities.
He says the communities will have to decide if the plan is acceptable.
