Governor Dayton was in East Grand Forks to push his budget plan.

The governor is proposing dropping the sales tax rate to five-and-a-half percent, but it would be broadened to cover most goods and services including clothing purchases more than 100 dollars.
Minnesota cities will get an extra $160-million in local government aid every two years.
That's a $257-thousand increase for a city like East Grand Forks.
With a $500 tax rebate for homeowners and a tax hike for the top two percent of earners, Dayton says his budget is a fiscally sound solution that puts the power back in the middle class.
Dayton also visited Roseau to discuss ways to solve a housing shortage in the area.
