Expect heavy road travel this week for the Thanksgiving holiday and expect to see the highest number ever of North Dakota highway patrol units on the road Wednesday.

Patrol Captain Brian Niewind says it's being called a "white out" and he says the patrol will put every unit it has on the roads.

That's 148 cars and trucks.

Niewind says there's good reason for the massive enforcement effort: the state's highway fatality toll is likely to set a modern day record this year.

More than half this year's fatal crashes are alcohol related.
