UND Hockey Player Fighting Drinking Charge

A UND hockey player is fighting a misdemeanor drinking charge.

A University of North Dakota hockey player is fighting a misdemeanor drinking charge. Jordan Schmaltz, 18, has pleaded not guilty to minor in possession and consumption of alcohol.

Schmaltz is one four four UND hockey players cited for underage drinking at a team party that left one of them was hospitalized in September.

The three other players, Bryn Chyzyk, Zane Gothberg and Drake Caggiula reached plea deals and were placed on probation.

Four senior captains were suspended for the season opener because of the party.
