A group of Democrat legislators from Cass County is asking the North Dakota Senate to restore funding for the proposed Fargo-Moorhead Diversion. A letter to Senators asks them to remove language from the State Water Commission budget that would outlaw the use of state funding for the home buyouts and ring dikes.
The group also says flood protection needs to be much higher than the 42 1/2f feet called for in the amendments the House passed this week.
They say the federal government continues to treat the project as a priority and will provide funds to help cover the $1.8 billion project.
