Federal prosecutors will get to see most of the confidential defense materials they've been seeking in the Alfonso Rodriguez case. Defense attorneys have agreed to submit all but five of the 51 files being sought. Files that contain transcripts from closed hearings and budget figures are being withheld.
The U.S. Attorney's office wants to review certain motions, orders, proceedings and reports filed by Rodriguez's trial attorneys. They say the materials will help them respond to claims that defense attorneys failed to introduce evidence about Rodriguez's mental capacity and life history.
Rodriguez is on death row in Indiana for the kidnapping and murder of Dru Sjodin.
