A stem cell bank has opened in Grand Forks.

It's the first business of its kind in the nation.

Vin Singh came up with the concept for his company, "Next Healthcare", in 2006.

It's a bank for skin and bone marrow stem cells.........

Today, skin cells are used for treating wounds and burns. many technologies are being developed to convert those skin cells into stem cells.

In the future, the hope is that the stem cells can be converted into any cell type in the body, potentially cure diseases like diabetes and osteoporosis.

The cost is $1,000 for the initial extraction of skin cells and a $200 annual storage fee after that.
