Representative Bob Skarphol has some advice for new, out-of-state workers in North Dakota's oil patch -- get state plates or pay the price.
The Tioga lawmaker has introduced a bill that would require those with out-of-state license plates to pay speeding fines of their home state.
That could be expensive since North Dakota's speed fines are cheap, usually $20 or less.
The extra fine money will go to the law enforcement agency that wrote the ticket.
He says that gives the authorities a financial benefit for writing tickets.
