BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota Congressman Rick Berg says he'll be going back to the private sector when he leaves office at the end of the year.

The Republican ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate, losing to Democrat Heidi Heitkamp by about 3,000 votes.

Berg is a former partner in a Fargo commercial real estate development company.

He says he wants to be an investor in North Dakota business projects, and help nonprofit groups raise money and expand their memberships.

Berg says another run for public office is ``not on my agenda.'' He served in the North Dakota House for 26 years before he ran for the U.S. House two years ago.
