(Washington, DC) - Senator Barbara Boxer is introducing legislation aimed at boosting school security.
After last week's deadly school shooting spree in Newtown, Connecticut, Boxer is calling for the "slaughter of the innocents" to stop.
In a Capitol news conference, Boxer said that the time for action is now. The California Democrat cited a litany of school shootings since 1989. In addition to increased school security, Boxer called for a reinstatement of the federal ban on assault weapons and an increase in funding for mental health issues.
