Survey: Voters Have More Favorable View Of Obama

Voters who gave Barack Obama a second term in office believe he is more in touch with people like themselves.

 

 

 

 

WASHINGTON (AP) - Voters who gave Barack Obama a second term in office believe he is more in touch with people like themselves.

That's according to exit polling conducted for The Associated Press. Six in 10 said economy was the key issue in their decision. Just 4 in 10 believed the economy is improving. But a little more than half also said former President George W. Bush shares some of the blame. The 3 in 10 who believed the economy is getting worse voted overwhelmingly for Romney.

Six in 10 backed Obama's call for a tax increase on incomes over $250,000. There was an even split on calls for the repeal of Obamacare.

The president can credit strong support from women. He led by 12 percentage points among women, while Romney led among men. There was also an Obama advantage among younger voters. He grabbed a majority of those under 45. Older voters broke for Romney.
