ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) - Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann and Democratic challenger Jim Graves clashed over a bridge outside Minnesota's 6th District as they faced each other in their first debate Tuesday.

The St. Cloud forum featured sharp exchanges between the candidates on the St. Croix Crossing bridge project near Stillwater, an area that now belongs to the 4th District.

Bachman says she worked with Democrats to pass the bridge legislation, calling it a ``miracle'' after years of delays.

Graves says he wouldn't have voted for the ``Rolls Royce'' bridge design that Bachmann supported, saying a less expensive bridge would have been better.

Bachmann, who ran for president last year, says she's in her district ``almost every weekend,'' while Graves criticized her as too focused on her own celebrity.
