Former Minot Mayor Chet Reiten has died at the age of 89.

Former Minot Mayor Chet Reiten has died at the age of 89.
A family friend says his wife Joy at his bedside when he passed away in his sleep yesterday afternoon.
Reiten was also a former state senator and community leader who is credited with creating the norsk Hostfest in 1978.
The Nordic festival draws tens of thousands of people to Minot every year.
For that success, the King of Norway awarded Reiten the St. Olaf Medal, one of the highest honors given by the Norweigen government.
Funeral arrangements for Chet Reiten are pending.
