Fergus Falls Residents Sentenced For West Acres Puppy Theft

Joli Martin, 18, and Jason Schmidt, 22, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft, a reduction from the original felony charge. Martin admitted to taking the dog while Schmidt waited in a car outside.

 

 

 

 

FARGO - Two people from Fergus Falls have been sentenced for stealing a puppy from the pet store at West Acres Shopping Center.

Joli Martin, 18, and Jason Schmidt, 22, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft, a reduction from the original felony charge. Martin admitted to taking the dog while Schmidt waited in a car outside.

The dog was recovered from their home in Fergus Falls after police released mall security video.

Martin and Schmidt were both sentenced to community service and placed on probation for just under a year.

The Lhasa Apso was worth about $500.
