The Violence Against Women Act has now passed in both the house and the senate, and President Obama is expected to sign the bill into law.

Senator Al Franken authored two key provisions of the act.

One would prevent landlords from kicking a victim out of subsidized housing because her abuser has been disruptive.

The second would end a practice Franken says happens all too often when rape victims are treated in the emergency room, by prohibiting them from charging victims to collect and process rape kits.
