Bronze Stars That Mark Vets' Graves Stolen

Investigators in Isanti County say the theft of 200 bronze star grave markers is a cold-hearted crime against those who served our country and their families.

 

 

 

 

CAMBRIDGE, Minn. (AP) - Investigators in Isanti County say the theft of 200 bronze star grave markers is a cold-hearted crime against those who served our country and their families.

Every Memorial Day, volunteers place U.S. flags in the bronze markers in honor of the departed veterans. The volunteers discovered the missing markers at three cemeteries in the county.

Isanti County sheriff's investigators believe the thieves wanted to sell the metal for some quick cash. Dorothy Pearson says it makes her sad that people have to stoop so low to do something like this. 

The local VFW donates the bronze stars, but at $20 each, says it would be hard to replace them all.
