FARGO, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota officials say there's more to the state's vibrant economy than oil.

The most recent statistics compiled by Job Service North Dakota show there were more than 24,000 online job openings in April, which is 16 percent higher than in March and 66 percent higher than one year ago.

A majority of job openings, nearly 66 percent, were in non-oil producing counties.

The largest number of jobs was in Cass County, where there were about 5,600 openings in April. That included increases in the fields of management, business, finance, computer, mathematical, architecture and engineering.

State officials say the employment picture in eastern North Dakota is often overshadowed by the oil boom and believe the strong numbers in non-oil country show a diverse economy.
