DULUTH, Minn. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Republican challenger Kurt Bills argued in a debate Tuesday about how to attack the mounting federal debt.

In the faceoff in Duluth, Bills called the situation a ``solvency'' crisis and said Washington is not working.

He criticized Klobuchar and other members of the Senate for relying on continuing resolutions rather than agreeing on full-scale budgets.

Klobuchar sought to make the case that GOP budget plans Bills has said he supports make massive cuts to programs for the middle class while slashing taxes for millionaires.

Klobuchar says she's voted to cut spending and raise taxes.

The Minnesota Democrat is seeking her second term in the Senate.
