ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Fired Minnesota Senate aide Michael Brodkorb is suing over his termination last December after being involved in an extramarital affair with the top Senate leader.

Brodkorb field a lawsuit Monday in Ramsey County against the state of Minnesota, the Minnesota Senate and a top Senate official. He claims gender discrimination because he says female employees involved in workplace affairs were treated differently.

Brodkorb says in his filing that the episode has caused him "to incur emotional distress.''

Brodkorb also admits to the affair with Sen. Amy Koch, who resigned from her post as Senate majority leader and is not seeking re-election.
