Five people have died after going through thru the ice on Minnesota lakes and rivers this year. A sixth person is missing and is presumed drowned.
DNR Boat and Water Safety Specialist Kara Owens says it could turn out to be the deadliest year on the ice in Minnesota in six years.
She says don't let your guard down when venturing out, and keep in mind, that ice is never 100-percent safe.
For more information on ice safety go to the DNR's website.
