BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A Bismarck man accused of killing his mother and stealing her car has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
48-year-old Dean Grenstiner was sentenced Monday in Bismarck. He earlier pleaded guilty to the murder charge. Prosecutors dropped a theft charge related to Grenstiner stealing his mother's car as part of a plea agreement.
Authorities say Grenstiner was living with his mother, 83-year-old Ann Grenstiner, for several weeks before he beat her to death in her Bismarck home last March. He was arrested in Moorhead, Minn., the day after his mother's body was discovered.
An autopsy report said Ann Grenstiner died because of multiple blows to the head.
