After a decline the past two years, Fargo Police Chief Keith Ternes says the city's overall crime rate rose last year. Appearing on KFGO'S Mike McFeely show, Ternes said most of the increase was in personal and property crimes.
Ternes, who will release a detailed crime report next month, says property crimes were up by about 300 last year.
The department is hiring a crime analyst who will compile statistics and other information to better track trends on a more timely basis.
Until now, a detective has been assigned to that duty in addition to other responsibilities.
