Police Link Moorhead Man To Rash Of Metal Thefts

A suspect in several area scrap metal and copper thefts has been arrested in Fargo. 49-year-old Scott Kjelland of Moorhead is in the Cass County jail on burglary and theft charges.

Lieutenant Joel Vettel says Kjelland has been linked to thefts at Fargo assembly, McLaughlin's and DMS Industries. Vettel says investigators believe Kjelland may be tied to similar thefts in the area. He also says more arrests are possible.

A search warrant affidavit obtained by KFGO News says Kjelland regularly sold scrap metal and copper wire to a Fargo salvage yard--and was paid up to $1,800 per day. Police from Fargo, Moorhead and the North Dakota Crime Bureau are investigating.
