Bergquist Endorses Proposed Gun Measures

Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist is endorsing a list of gun-related proposals by the Minnesota Sheriff's Association.

 

 

 

 

Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist is endorsing a list of gun-related proposals by the Minnesota Sheriff's Association.

The five proposals are designed to improve criminal background checks and give law enforcement better access to mental health records. Bergquist says one of the proposals would direct the courts to take a more active role in sharing mental health information with law enforcement.

The proposals are the result of last month's school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut. They were formally presented to Minnesota lawmakers this week.
