Political experts say no matter who takes the White House, a number of cabinet level changes are expected.

If President Obama is re-elected, a well-known North Dakotan is among those being mentioned for one of the positions. Former Senator Byron Dorgan is said to be on the short list for Energy Secretary. The National Journal and several other news organizations say Dorgan, hailing from the center of the U.S. oil production boom, would make a good liason to republican members of Congress.

During his nearly two decades as a senator, Dorgan was a high profile member of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee and was chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development.
