Media outnumbered participants in what was billed as a Valentines Day Marriage Equality event outside the Cass County Courthouse.

It was sponsered by the group "10-thousand for North Dakota Gay Marriage" that has tried to challenge North Dakota's ban on same sex marriage.

Dan Sturgill of Fargo was one of only 3 people who braved the cold to participate. He says they'll be back next year and hopes for more support.

Organizer Lenny Tweeden was disappointed by the turnout but he says his efforts to push for marriage equality will continue. Tweeden, who opened the area's first gay bar 30-years ago, says times are slowly changed. Last February, Tweeden was turned down in an attempt to get a marriage license in Cass County to marry a man who has been his partner for 25-years.
