The extreme heat may be slowing, but is not hurting, the Red River Valley sugarbeet harvest.

Some growers say it's the best in years. The weather is forcing farmers to shut down daily harvesting early because processing plants need to quickly process beets hauled in before they spoil.

However, it's an early harvest so we hear from growers like Brian Beiswinger, who are taking it all in stride.

This year's harvest comes as American Crystal Sugar union workers remain locked out of their jobs in a labor dispute with the company. Union President John Riske believes a quarter of this bumper crop could be left in the field because production workers are not meeting production goals.
