GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - The college football season is getting under way in North Dakota, with the first game involving one of the state's two big schools.
The University of North Dakota hosts South Dakota Mines on Thursday night at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. UND has completed its transition to NCAA Division I, while Mines is continuing its transition from the NAIA to the NCAA Division II level. The two schools have never played before.
The game will be the coaching debut of Mines coach Stacy Collins.
