Moorhead Arson Suspect Faces Charges In Dumpster Fires

A suspected arsonist is in custody in Moorhead, Minn.

 

 

 

 

MOORHEAD, Minn. - A suspected arsonist is in custody in Moorhead. Steven Chenoweth, 38, was arrested late Sunday night after police spotted him setting a dumpster fire.

A police detective was staked out in the Romkey Park neighborhood where a number of suspicious fires have occurred when he arrested Chenoweth. He admitted responsibility for 13 dumpster fires while in custody.

Since June there have been 18 dumpster fires, including one early Monday morning in north Moorhead. Police tell KFGO news some of those fires may have been accidental or there may be another fire starter at work. MPD are still invesitgating whether all of the dumpster fires are related.

Chenoweth is being held in the Clay County Jail on multiple 3rd degree arson charges.
