GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - An overheated motor caused the evacuation and temporary closure of Grand Forks County Courthouse Monday afternoon.

The Grand Fork's Sheriff's Department says fire alarms went off at the courthouse at about 2:40 p.m. When deputies and fire crews arrived on scene, they discovered that a Freon line from an air conditioner came off. It spilled Freon on a motor and the motor overheated, causing smoke, which set off the fire alarms.

The courthouse has been closed for the day. It's unclear if it will be reopened on Tuesday. Officials are urging the public to call ahead.
