Homeless shelters in Fargo are full as the low unemployment rate attracts many people to the area.
Tom Calvin came from Rochester, Minn. looking for farm work.
"I kind of expected it to be kind of a slam dunk," said Calvin. "With my kind of zeal for work, I didn't think there'd be any problem at all. I just kind of ran into a brick wall."
Calvin has had to sleep in his car because he hasn't found a job to pay for a place to live. Calvin said he will keep looking for work, but if he doesn't find it soon, he'll head back to Rochester.
Churches United Shelter Director John Roberts said that's the kind of attitude that is needed.
"Those who remain hopeful and remain persistent and take advantage of the help that's available will succeed," said Roberts.
In the winter, the shelter will add extra mattresses to offices so people don't have to sleep outside. This is the first time there has been this much overcapacity in the summer.
Roberts said Churches United plans to add beds but he would rather see something done to make housing affordable for everyone.
