A dispute with DISH Network Corporation has left subscribers of two local television stations without access to programming.

DISH Network claims Hoak Media, owner of KVLY, the local NBC affiliate, and KXJB, a CBS affiliate, are barring customers from using a new commercial-skipping digital video recorder called "AutoHop."

"KXJB/KVLY and Hoak don’t respect customer control, they are telling customers they must watch commercials," said Dave Shull, senior vice president of programming for DISH Network.

President and general manager of KXJB/KVLY, Jim Wareham, said that is not true.

"The 'AutoHop' did not come up once in our negotiations," said Wareham. "Saying anything contrary is ludicrous."

Wareham said the two companies have been negotiating on a new contract since April and the two sides are not agreeing on language in that contract.

The two stations were pulled from the air at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
