Minnesota Governor, Legislators Discuss Recent Session

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton and state legislators took to the skies Tuesday to bring their message to Minnesotans.

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton and state legislators took to the skies Tuesday to bring their message to Minnesotans.

DFL Senate Leader Tom Bakk said the Republicans made the session a "do-nothing" one.

"I this last biennium, it is the fewest number of bills that have been enacted into law, at 245, since 1869," said Bakk. "And I would argue because nothing was important. They talked about reform, but never really got it into a bill, negotiated a deal with the governor, to enact the reforms that they talked about."

Represenative Paul Marquart of Dilworth joined the group during a stop over at the Moorhead airport.

"We had a couple jobs bills, the bonding bill, the Vikings stadium, but also some big disappointments in not restoring the homestead credit or finding a way to pay back the schools their $2.4 billion," said Marquart.

Governor Dayton said Democrats accomplished getting jobs for Minnesotans through the stadium and bonding bills.
