The Department of Natural Resources says Minnesota's pheasant harvest was down 43 percent last year because of two moderately severe winters in a row plus a cold, wet spring in 2011.

They'll have predictions just after Labor Day on the 2012 pheasant harvest, but the DNR's Lou Cornicelli says going forward there are some bigger things to worry about, including the loss of acres enrolled in the conservation reserve program.

Cornicelli says, "It's tough to compete against eight-dollar corn."
