The latest poll shows a virtual dead heat in Minnesota over the marriage amendment that's on the ballot this fall.
Opponents say they've closed the gap and the measure will be defeated in November. But Carleton College political science professor Steven Schier notes that in other states, the polls have under-stated support for marriage amendments by a few points.
A survey by North Carolina-based Public Policy Polling shows 48 percent support the marriage amendment and 47 percent oppose it.
