A proposal to spend some of the money raised by oil tax collections on conservation, wildlife and wetlands should be on the November ballot.

Roughly 36,000 petition signatures have been turned into the Secretary of State in Bismarck.

Ducks Unlimited Regional Director Steve Adair, who chairs the campaign, says the special fund could bring in $80 million a year.

A nine-member appointed board would control the fund.

A group against the idea, "People of North Dakota," says it would spend too much money with no accountability.
