BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP) - Police have arrested a 50-year-old man to end a nearly 9-hour standoff that prompted some evacuations in Bloomington.

Deputy Police Chief Rick Hart says officers broke into the man's apartment around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Hart says police don't know if the man had a weapon, but police found laser light devices in his apartment.

The standoff began after a man pointed a laser light at a passer-by and then at an officer at about 4 a.m. Tuesday.

At first the man was in an abandoned home.

When officers responded, the man ran across the street to his apartment.

Hart says the man fell and hurt his arm while running.

He was treated and then booked.

Residents were evacuated from the apartment building during the standoff and streets blocked off.
