A grant from Dakota Medical Foundation will allow more life-saving devices to be distributed throughout the region.

Twenty automated external defibrillators, or AEDs, will be distributed by Fargo Cass Public Health to fire departments, local and rural law enforcement, quick response units and even public locations that qualify for AED placement.

"Churches, schools, community centers, airports are a great location," said Holly Scott, Fargo Cass Public Health. "The number one priority with Dakota Medical Foundation's program is that all of our locations must have a non-profit status, so that's something that is the same with both the first responders and public placement location."

The AED initiative has saved 24 lives by placing more than 500 defibrillators in Fargo-Moorhead since 2001.
