FARGO - Fargo police have been conducting their first-ever concentrated enforcement effort targeting texting drivers.
The traffic safety unit was set up along Main Avenue near Interstate-29. Officer Mike Lovejoy was parked in a public works pickup spotting texting violators and radioing the information to squad cars waiting up the road.
During the first day of the crackdown, police were set up at First Avenue and North University Drive where they stopped 16 cars. A total of 10 drivers were cited for violating the texting law that took effect one year ago.
Fines run up to $100.
