The head of the Humane Society Fargo-Moorhead is not happy with a ballot measure on November's ballot that would make animal cruelty in North Dakota a Class C felony.

Nukhet Hendricks says Measure 5 only extends protection to dogs, cats and horses and does nothing to address the most common cases of animal neglect and cruelty that she sees regularly at the humane society.

Hendricks says the Humane Society Fargo-Moorhead is part of a group advocating a legislative solution to animal cruelty that strengthens protection from cruelty for all animals, and offers what she says is a more comprehensive approach to the response of animal mistreatment.
