FARGO - Sanford Health in Fargo says its nurse recruitment effort has "exceeded expectations."
Faced with a nursing shortage, Sanford announced it was offering sign-up bonuses of $15,000 for experienced registered nurses starting last month. An estimated 50 RNs have been hired.
Ann Christenson, Sanford's vice president of human resources, says not all those hired took the bonus because it requires a two- to three-year commitment.
Sanford still has openings for experienced nurses. Christienson says they're now studying whether or not to continue the signing bonus.
Sanford Health has 1,100 nurses in the Fargo area.
