A Norwegian exchange student who nearly died of a brain aneurysm last fall made a stop at Sanford Health in Fargo on Thursday to thank the medical staff for saving his life.

Magnus Fenes, 17, suffered the near fatal aneurysm while living with a host family in Devils Lake, N.D. Fenes spent three weeks at Sanford in Fargo recovering.

"There are so few people that survive, and if they survive, they always have a big disability," said Fenes. "I don't have any disabilities."

His mother, Ann Paulson, thanked the medical staff for saving her son's life.

"Thank you so much for helping us when we needed so much," said Paulson. "Without them, we couldn't have our son back. I know if he stayed in Norway, it never would have happened like this."

Magnus graduated from Devils Lake High School last weekend and has a week left in the U.S. before returning home.
