Supporters of the University of North Dakota's Fighting Sioux nickname are planning a two day rally in Fargo.
Spokesman Sean Johnson said the rally, called the "Save the Sioux Truth Tour," will promote a "no" vote on a ballot measure that would retire the nickname.
Eunice Davidson, a Spirit Lake tribal member, said the supporters are trying to get out and talk with voters.
"We haven't had the money to really advertise, put ads out there," said Davidson. "I think the best thing we can do is have our boots on the ground, going around and meeting real people, shaking their hands, I guess, is the right thing to do."
The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Buffalo Wild Wings across from West Acres mall and at the Buffalo Wild Wings across from the Fargodome. Friday's event will run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Buffalo Wild Wings across from the Fargodome.
