A man is hospitalized with stab wounds following an assault in front of the Bismarck Tavern on Broadway in dowtown Fargo.

A man is hospitalized with stab wounds following an assault in front of the Bismarck Tavern on Broadway in dowtown Fargo.


It happened around 10:30 last night.


Police say the victim was approached by a male who pulled a knife and stabbed him. The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle. Tips have helped police identify a suspect.


Eyewitnesses supplied police with a license plate of the getaway vehicle. That led to police to a Moorhead residence where a search warrant was served early today. The truck was located there and police questioned several people.


Lt. Joel Vettel says the man is still being sought but investigators have a pretty good idea who he is.


The victim was able to make it to Sanford Medical Center's ER on his own. The hospital is two blocks from the crime scene.


The victim's wound is serious, but he is expected to recover.
