ST. PAUL - The Department of Natural Resources anticipates good hunting for the duck opener Saturday, and throughout the season. Continental duck numbers this spring were at a record high, and low water levels throughout the state should also work in the hunter's favor.

DNR Waterfowl Specialist Steve Cordts says this year's opener marks the earliest start to the season since the world war II era. The DNR has added a third hunting zone in the southern part of the state, which will extend the season into the first weekend in December.
